This website doesn't set a single cookie — no tracking, no profiles, no personalised advertising — so there's nothing to accept, nothing to reject, and nothing quietly watching you browse.
That's a deliberate choice, not an oversight. Most people visiting this site are looking into care for someone they love, often at a worrying time. We think privacy is part of being kind — so we built the site to work without following you.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that websites save on your computer or phone. They have some perfectly ordinary uses — like keeping you signed in to your online banking — but they're also widely used to track what people do online and show them advertising afterwards.
We don't do any of that, which is why you won't find a cookie pop-up here. There's simply nothing to ask permission for.
3. Why we don't use them
The last thing you need, after reading about dementia care late at night, is to be followed around the internet by adverts for it. So:
- No tracking and no personalised advertising — nothing on this site follows you around the internet or builds a profile of you.
- Almost everything is served by us — pages, photos and fonts all come from our own website. The one exception is a single Google measurement script, explained honestly just below.
- Our forms go straight to us — when you ask for a free assessment, your details are emailed securely to our local team and nowhere else. Our privacy policy explains how we look after them.
- We count visits anonymously — our website host tallies page views (cookieless, served from our own website) so we know which pages are helping people. It has no idea who you are, and there's nothing stored on your device.
The one exception, upfront. We sometimes advertise on Google so that local families can find us, and we need to know whether those adverts are worth the money. For that, the site loads one small piece of Google's measurement code — locked in its strictest cookieless mode. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and tracking and ad-personalisation are switched off. All it does is let Google count, in aggregate, when an advert leads to an enquiry — someone sending our contact form or tapping our phone number. It doesn't tell us who you are, and it doesn't follow you around the internet afterwards.
4. What we do store on your device
One small thing — and only if you ask for it. If you use the "Make this easier to use" button to make the text bigger, increase the contrast, stop things moving, or switch to an easy-read font, we save those choices in your browser so the site remembers them next time you visit.
Those choices are stored on your own device, are never sent to us or anyone else, and aren't cookies. You can clear them at any moment with the "Reset everything" button in the same panel.
5. Videos on this site
Our short films are hosted on YouTube using its privacy-enhanced player — the version that doesn't set cookies for simply watching a video.
Until you choose to press play, nothing loads from YouTube at all — even the preview picture is served from our own website. The player only loads if you press play; if you'd rather not, the rest of the page works exactly the same.
6. Links to other websites
We sometimes link to other websites — for example homecare.co.uk for our reviews, or the Care Quality Commission. Once you follow a link, that site's own cookie and privacy policies apply. We don't control them, and they set nothing on this site.
7. If anything ever changes
If we ever add a tool that needs cookies — for example, a simple count of visitors — we'll update this page first, and ask your permission with a clear yes-or-no choice before anything is switched on. No quiet changes, ever.
8. The formal bit
For completeness, here is the full list of cookies set by this website:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| None | This website sets no cookies of any kind. | — |
And everything kept in your browser's local storage (see section 4):
| Item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| otterA11y | Remembers your accessibility choices — text size, high contrast, reduced motion and easy-read font. Stays on your device; never transmitted. | Until you press "Reset everything" or clear your browsing data |
This page is provided in line with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR. Because this site sets no cookies and stores nothing non-essential on your device (the advert measurement in section 3 runs in cookieless mode), no consent banner is required.
