It started with caring for my own father
Otter Homecare was founded from personal experience and a deep belief in compassionate, family-centred care.

Why I started Otter Homecare
After growing up in Wiltshire, I spent my twenties and thirties in Thailand — a culture where caring for older loved ones at home, surrounded by family, was simply the way of life. When I returned and my father suffered a severe stroke, it felt only natural to care for him at home, surrounded by familiar faces, dignity and love. Supervising his support team opened my eyes to the real power of empathetic, human-focused care — not just for the person being supported, but for the whole family. Otter Homecare grew from that.

Jamie in Thailand — where caring for older loved ones at home, surrounded by family, is simply a way of life.
To consistently exceed expectations by providing the highest quality home care across Wiltshire and Somerset.
Why I started Otter Homecare
Why we’re called Otter
Otters famously hold hands so they never drift apart — and they embody the very qualities we look for in every Care Professional.
Otters are equally at home on land and in water — just as our Care Professionals adapt and tailor their support to fit each person, and each day.
Otters are famously playful. A shared laugh, a little fun and warm company often turn an ordinary visit into the best part of someone's day.
Otters keep their little ones close and warm. Our team brings that same devotion to looking after someone else's loved one, every single visit.
Otters hold hands so they never drift apart. We watch over the people in our care just as closely — keeping them safe, secure and never alone.
Hands-on, by choice
Jamie didn't come from care; he came from business — and chose to train properly into it.
He's completing a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care, is Train-the-Trainer qualified, and still personally delivers the values part of every new starter's induction. Leading by example, not from a desk.
The gap we're here to fill. There are still very few genuinely outstanding home-care providers across West Wiltshire and Somerset. We're determined to be one of them — and to raise the bar locally for what good care looks like.
Kindness, Initiative, Learning & Teamwork
The four values that guide everyone at Otter — KILT, for short. It's the reason our otter wears a kilt.
